Gün­ter Peter Straschek (1942–2009) was a film­mak­er, re­search­er, and prob­a­b­ly the most knowl­edge­able per­son about the film emi­gra­tion from Nazi Ger­many, the sub­ject of his 1975 tele­vi­sion se­ries at the cen­ter of the ex­hi­bi­tion. His ear­ly work will al­so be on view, in­clud­ing for the first time A West­ern for the SDS, which is le­g­endary for hav­ing been con­fis­cat­ed in 1968 and nev­er shown.

2018 Wolf­gang Hahn Prize

In 2018, the Ge­sellschaft für Mod­erne Kunst am Mu­se­um Lud­wig will rec­og­nize Haegue Yang for her ex­traor­d­i­nary body of work with the Wolf­gang Hahn Prize. The Mu­se­um Lud­wig will show­case the re­mark­able ver­satil­i­ty of her en­tire oeu­vre in the artist’s first-ev­er sur­vey ex­hi­bi­tion.

On the fifti­eth an­niv­er­sary of the death of Martin Luther King, the Mu­se­um Lud­wig is ex­hi­b­it­ing the works of the pho­­to­g­ra­phers Pirk­le Jones and Ruth-Mar­i­on Baruch, who cap­­tured San Fran­­cis­­co in the tur­bu­­lent 1960s with sym­­pa­thy and ob­serv­ing dis­­­tance.
